Meet The Team

Freddy Jácome – Website/Algorithm creator and designer

I am currently a fourth-year medical student at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Chicago campus applying to orthopaedic surgery.

Website Development:

As a first-generation medical student with limited knowledge of the medical system, I initially struggled to determine what programs I was competitive for. Outside of programs where I had established a network, such as my home program, I had no clear idea of which other programs to apply to or how to assess whether they would consider me for an interview.

In my search for guidance, I spoke to various people in the field and quickly realized that the advice varied widely. Much of what was shared was through word of mouth, and I wanted objective data that was free from potential biases. While there are websites that provide some objective data, the information is often scattered and outdated, with some data points going back as far as 2022. In a rapidly changing field like medicine, data from 2022 can quickly become obsolete. Additionally, we wanted to track trends over time rather than rely on a single snapshot.

During my research year at Northwestern University, I worked on multiple projects and learned how to program to enhance the efficiency of my research. With programming skills and the help of other hard working and dedicated medical students, we collected data from all accredited orthopaedic surgery programs in the country, creating comprehensive program profiles based on residents’ quantitative metrics.

With the support of the University of Illinois Orthopaedic Surgery Department, we were able to bring this website to life. Our mission is to provide medical students with clear, data-driven insights throughout the match process. By offering comprehensive information, we aim to help students make informed decisions about signaling programs and selecting strategic away rotations, ultimately increasing their chances of a successful match
